Event photography services… a sample of my shows from the road

When I shoot on location, I strive to find more than just the walk up snapshot that everyone nowdays can get with their camera phone. Every event is different and there are many different visual parts of the music.  My experience has led me to various conditions and challenges from show to show… There are several challenges to capturing the moment and the energy. This is the approach I take when shooting a performance, weather it is an orchestra or a garage band.
I  look for the available light and under certain situations I use radio strobes off camera. I look at the performance, the room, the fans… the crew… I guess to get those few great captures you meet a variety of people thru the lens and stuff that happens around the gig.

You need album art, posters, fliers, laminated passes and lariats, tickets, or press packages and social media content, there are a myriad of ways to present your music to your fans and to the world and I can help. I started designing fliers for shows a long time ago, rallying people up for shows and introducing new music to different kinds of crowds- from on the local level to regional band development, I have an affinity and deep respect for this kind of work and love the opportunity it gives me to be close to and “see” the music and offer my interpretations to this artform.

I like to get acquainted with my subjects, and I want to offer my viewers a raw look into my subjects. (If you want this kind of coverage for your project, then you need to contact me and we need to talk about your event:)  Sometimes, this is limited to happen only thru the lens, so I can relate that to my viewer. Whenever possible, I like to collaborate with them… I have a list of things that I think are essential… but that doesn’t always happen and as an artist, sometimes I stray from the standard formal shots that everyone does-  but dont worry- I can do those, too!

I  stay as long as it takes to get groupings of work that I feel will personify the event for years to come.  I am not afraid to look for a scene after the ceremony, before a gig, or from another point of view. I didnt come this far to not carry my camera, so Im usually the first an last one shooting… and so I like to include this in the experience where I think others may miss some detail of the day or a close up view that may otherwise be missed :) I am a hunter.

“I can handle events where agility and dexterity are important, long days, rugged terrain, hot or inclement weather. I am willing  to carry several cameras for a long period of time to cover any situation and being able to travel is exciting”

“I offer my clients a speedy turnaround with online galleries to view the proofs from an event.I prefer to take the time to perfect the shots. To me this is more than just photography, it is an art, and I dont feel that it can be rushed. So in todays timeframe, a week seems like a long time. To me its not long enough :)

: the cherry"

shown: A gallery canvas wrap of the ‘double cherry’. This cotton/linen canvas has a textured surface and is printed with archival quality, pigmented inks that will stay vibrant for years. The canvas is supported by wood ‘stretcher bars’ that essentially consist of the frame inside of the picture, so it is ready to hang (my favorite feature), of course you can still choose to frame this as you would traditional canvas, if you want… I personally like wrap around edges.
